Description
Yuccas line up for a sunset at White Sands National monument between Alamagordo and Las Cruces, New Mexico under a glowing sky. This area is famous for its wavy sand dunes and loesses that create a striking contrast with the yuccas and other shrubs of the Chihuahuan Desert, and I find it to be one of the most iconic landscapes of the American Southwest. This particular late afternoon near sunset saw brilliant wispy cirrus clouds filling the sky over the striking Tularosa Basin and bold sunlight. There are many interesting perspectives, leading lines and points of view here, best enjoyed in solitude.
