Artist's Description
This is a panoramic evening view of the city of downtown Tucson, Arizona as seen from the beginning of the Finger Rock Trailhead in the Catalina Foothills at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains. This is looking southwest toward the buildings that comprise downtown, the iconic A Mountain (officially known as Sentinel Peak), with a block "A" on the side to commemorate the University of Arizona, and Kitt Peak far off in the distance, home to the Kitt Peak observatory. Saguaro cacti dot the foothills, true monarchs of the Sonoran Desert of the American Southwest.
If you look closely enough you can also see the crater on side of A Mountain.
