Artist's Description
Kokopelli is seen again, this time overlooking Finger Rock and Mount Kimball in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson, .Arizona. Early morning sunlight pours onto this Sonoran Desert Landscape during a green and radiant spring, as puffy clouds float through an idyllic blue sky. Saguaro cactus and ocotillo stand tall amid the creosote bushes; monarchs of this southwestern land.
Finger Rock is a prominent monolith within the cliffs to the west of Mount Kimball and resembled a finger pointing skyward, overlooking the Old Pueblo. Kokopelli is a flute-playing spirit in Native American tradition and a symbol of the Southwest. This is part of an ongoing series of Kokopelli paintings across Arizona I am doing on small canvas.
