The Colorado River is seen cutting through the mighty depths of the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona. Seen from Navajo Point, a nondescript and lesser-travelled pullout on the eastern edge of the South Rim, golden late-day sunlight bathes the temples and buttes in last light as two birds soar overhead.
I have always loved stopping at Navajo Point, soaking in the vast vistas of America's grandest canyon with a perfect view of the river that created it all miles below. It is my hope that this impressionistic piece of art transports you to the edge of the canyon and fills you with a sense of awe and wonder.
Tucson based photographer and artist Chance Kafka is a native of Laramie, Wyoming, and grew up in the small community of Wheatland, before returning to Laramie for college. He took an interest into photography at a young age, photographing clouds, sunsets, and landscapes. At age 17, he won 1st Place in the Platte County Fair photography competition in 3 out of 5 categories as the only entrant to win more than one category. Following this local success, he worked as a feature writer and photographer for the Platte County Record Times while still in high school.
