Description
Winter has arrived to southern Arizona as the Santa Rita Mountains are dusted in snow as dramatic, moody storm clouds swirl over the range. Located about 40 miles south of Tucson, its highest peak Mount Wrightson is shrouded in these stormy clouds. The peak reaches over 9,000 feet and towers over the Santa Cruz River Valley and can be readily seen from Tucson and the towns of Sahuarita, Green Valley, Amado, and Tubac. The valley is too low in elevation to ever see much snow. In the foreground we see plants very common to the Sonoran Desert, including prickly pear cactus and creosote bushes.
