Description
This is a hand drawn digital painting of the iconic deity Kokopelli playing his flute in a dreamy southwestern world inspired by a dream I had where it was day and night and the same time. As the sun sets, ending a scorching hot day over the dry desert landscape, the crescent moon sits high in the sky amid the stars and clouds. This probably takes place in Arizona but is meant to represent the spirit of the Southwestern United States as a whole.
Kokopelli has fascinated me for some time. Regarded as a deity of fertility, mischief and rain among Native American cultures and featured on many ancient petroglyphs, he is a timeless symbol of the American Southwest. I would image this to take place somewhere in southern Arizona.
This is a work of contrast and symmetry. The top half is a dark, cool nightscape, and the bottom half is a hot, sunny world. The sun is right near the middle of the image, and the sun, moon, mountain, and Kokopelli are all careful placed in the same plane, framed by the iconic Saguaro cacti. I also included my trademark birds scattered throughout. I hope you enjoy this otherworldly work!
I appreciate your visit to my art and photography gallery. All of my work is available is available as a print, framed print, acrylic print, metal print, wood print, canvas print, or greeting card. The sizes of wall art range from the 5" x 7" greeting card to 72" wide in some cases! All materials are archival and beautifully printed for a lifetime of use in home or office.
