Description
Grand Teton rises above a clearing near the Snake River of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Early mountain sunrise light illuminates these rugged peaks into hues of reddish amber and magenta. These snowcapped mountains are reflected into the calm waters of an offshoot of the Snake River, where pools and beaver ponds of river water permeate the sporadically forested meadows of the valley. Tall pine trees stand in the distance, still in shadow. Green grass, lush from early spring snow, fills the meadow near Schwabacker Landing.
Located amid one of the most iconic stretches of scenic landscapes amid the state of Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park is adjacent to Yellowstone National Park and offers unparalleled views of this vertical mountain range. With peaks reaching over 13,000 feet, it is one of the highlights of the greater North American Rocky Mountains. These mountains are the most recognizable in the state of Wyoming and were once featured on its license plates. A true embodiment of the rugged and dramatic terrain of the American West, they must be viewed in person for their immense prominence and sheer vertical presence to be appreciated. I hoped to capture the stillness of Wyoming in the chilly, early morning hours and the feeling of wonder when the first light of day begins illuminating the mountains during dawn's first golden hour light.
