Thank you for visiting my page. Whether you are shopping for home decor or premium wall art for your business, greeting cards, or just browsing my work, I am confident you'll find something to love in my collection of images celebrating the beauty of the desert Southwest, nature, stars, seas, and the American West.
I'll use this to introduce myself and talk a bit about my work.
I was born in Wyoming, graduating from the University of Wyoming in 2015 with a bachelor's in journalism.
I have lived in Tucson, Arizona since 2017 and currently work at a sales office. I love the new photographic opportunities afforded here. I enjoy being outside, exploring new places, and finding solitude in nature, camera in hand. The scenery in Arizona is so dynamic that I hope my pictures give you at least some of the same feeling of awe that I feel when taking them.
I've done photography mainly as a hobby since I was 13 years old. I have done photography work for newspapers in the past in addition to a wedding and several senior portrait sessions, and was a teaching assistant for photography at UW for two years.
I fell into a bit of a photography hiatus for a few years, but really kicked back into high gear starting in the summer of 2018, applying techniques I've learned over the years and really just getting out with the camera again.
Landscapes are by far my favorite category and most of the photos I upload are of landscapes. I especially enjoy sunsets, stars, fall colors, and storms. I currently have a Nikon D330 with two zoom lenses (18-55mm and 55-200mm) and a 500mm fixed lens. I try my best to capture all the relevant details in scenes and deliver crisp, quality images with depth and color that maintain realism but aren't flat, and are dynamic but not a super cooked HDR effect. Aside from color and lighting correction, sharpening, cropping and straightening, I am staunch about maintaining the original composition of an image (i.e. I'd never cut and paste a moon into the sky or add a unicorn to a rainbow image). I like to take ordinary objects and elements of nature and capture them in interesting contexts.
In addition photography and exploring, I also enjoy following sports, cooking, trying new restaurants, playing the piano, bowling, and working out when I have time. You may have noticed I have also dabbled into painting a little bit. I started painting in early 2019 and discovered my knowledge of photography is helpful. I prefer to paint acrylics on canvas stretched over stretcher bars, but have done oil as well to get blending effects impossible with acrylics, and recently began digital painting as well. Many of my paintings are inspired by actual photos I have taken and I will glance at them for reference, but I also paint a lot from my imagination.
